Sohee (Kim Si-Eun) is a high school student at a vocational school in Jeonju, South Korea. Initially excited to land an internship at a major internet provider’s call centre, the role turns out to be a daily nightmare where the young workforce are pushed to reach impossible targets and paid only a fraction of a normal wage. The work is daunting even for a driven student like Sohee. Torn between anger, pressure to perform and disappointment, she is pushed to the limit, plunging her into a downward psychological spiral.
A criminal investigation ensues, and Detective Oh Yoo-jin (Bae Doona), who is assigned Sohee’s case, starts to follow the leads that weave together a picture of Sohee's gruelling experience in this gripping psychological thriller.

Next Sohee premiered at Cannes Critics Week and is the second film from Korean director July Jung. Starring Bae Doona, known for her work with directors Park Chan-wook, Bong Joon-ho, Hirokazu Kore-eda and her roles in Cloud Atlas, Netflix TV series Sense8 and Netflix period zombie thriller Kingdom, as well as her lead role in July Jung’s debut A Girl at My Door which also received a UK release.
July Jung, born in 1980 in Yeosu, South Korea, pursued her passion for cinema and storytelling by studying in the Department of Imaging at Sungkyunkwan University. She furthered her education at Korea National University of Arts, specialising in filmmaking.

In 2014, Jung made an impactful debut onto the international stage with her inaugural feature film, A Girl at My Door. The film earned an invitation to the 67th Cannes Film Festival's Un Certain Regard section, where it garnered widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences. Jung's debut not only showcased her talent but also solidified her position as a noteworthy female director, captivating viewers worldwide and marking her as a rising star in the global cinematic landscape.
